Sarah Perez

November 14, 1922 — July 28, 2017

Sarah Perez born in Denver, Colorado, on November 14, 1922, entered Eternal Life on July 28, 2017. Sarah was predeceased by her parents, Ramon and Felia Fernandez. Sarah married the love of her life, Edward (Eddie) on October 21, 1943 in Long Beach, California, where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, as he had just enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Eddie predeceased Sarah on July 31, 1971. Sarah is also predeceased by her six brothers, Tom, Joe, Louie, Alex, Leo, Sammy; and little sister, Stella; as well as, two great grandchildren, Sylvia Bonnie and Sarah Elizabeth and two great-great grandchildren, Angelina and Domonick. Sarah is survived by her children, Beatrice (Roy, her husband of 30 years), Edward ‘Sonny” (Bonnie, his wife of 54 years), Ramon (Christy, his wife of 33 years), and Elizabeth (Steve, her husband of 45 years); grandchildren, Denise, Edward, Bernadette, Elicia, Ruben, Laura, Eric, Ashlea, Rachael, Stephen and Kristin; 17 great grandchildren; and 8 great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Angie Fernandez. Sarah was a self-taught seamstress, and prior to her retirement at age 65, she worked for several companies in the Denver area including, Miller Stockman Western Wear and Rockmount Western Wear. In nearly thirty years of retirement, she first and foremost enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, loved her Bingo games - attending in the morning, noon and night, and watching college and pro football and baseball games. In the last eight years, Sarah endured the challenges of failing health and the determination to walk again, after being paralyzed because of a spinal infection. She was a true inspiration to all that knew her and a one-of-kind character and story-teller. We wish to give a special thank you to the staff at Christopher House Rehabilitation Center that literally got Mom back on her feet. There are so many to thank and we are forever grateful to all. A special thank you to her nurse, Theresa, who is a true friend to Sarah and made sure Mom maintained her jet black hairdo. We cannot thank you enough. We also wish to thank Denver Hospice for your compassion. Recitation of the Rosary will be Sunday, August 6, 2017, beginning at 6:00 PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, in Arvada, Colorado 80003.
