Sarah Lee Beykpour
September 18, 1934 to June 13, 2023

Sarah was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Leta Rue Dean and Saint Clair Newbern. She had two half-sisters, Kathleen and Jewel, and one half-brother, Saint Clair Jr. ("SC"), from her father's first marriage. Sarah's father died when she was young and her mother raised her in Byars, Oklahoma, along with her two sisters, Mary and Peggy, and older brother, Julian Dean ("JD").

Growing up in the country, she took care of her own horse, riding in parades at rodeos. She graduated from high school in Norman and attended college at the University of Oklahoma, where she majored in sociology and got her pilot's license in an Air Force ROTC program. She was a renaissance woman with many talents: she played the piano and organ, and sang in the choir. At the church singles' group, Sarah met the love of her life Hassan, who was an international student from Iran.

Married in 1956, they conceived one daughter in Oklahoma and one in Colorado where they moved for Hassan's school and work. Pregnant with their third child, they traveled oversees to live with his family in Tehran. Sarah taught English at the American school and learned Farsi fluently. Her husband's career moved them to Switzerland and Holland, where they also traveled to other countries in Europe including touring the Vatican where they met the pope.
Returning state-side after having their last child, a son, they lived in various states including Oklahoma, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, and California, finally settling in Colorado. When their children were grown, Sarah became a proprietress of Cherry Creek fine rug store, Persian Room Imports.

Sarah's passion for flying was reignited when her son began flight training. She became a certified flight instructor and CFII along with other certifications. She taught at Centennial Airport near Denver and at Meacham Airport in Texas. She trained students who became Air Force and commercial pilots. Sarah and Hassan owned two small planes based at Bourland Airfield near Fort Worth. She flew several cross-country trips. She was an active member of Civil Air Patrol and Ninety-Nines, an organization of women pilots.
She was an amazing mother and homemaker. From gardening to bonsai trees, sports to music, not to mention a world traveler, Sarah was a fascinating, a well-rounded person who lived a full life. Highly intelligent, she became a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). As a speed reader and having a passion for books, she had a wealth of knowledge and wisdom which she was "happy" to share with others. She was confident, nonjudgmental, thoughtful, and supportive of others which can be attributed to her happy and secure childhood. She was the kindest of people; even in her last breath, she was more concerned about the welfare of her family than her own health issues.
