Born Sarah (Sally) Rae Beatty, January 25, 1937 in Pueblo, CO, the youngest daughter of Charles F. and Agnes A. Beatty. Preceded in death by her brother Charles Beatty and sister Patricia Rotherham, Sally is survived by her brother Thomas J. Beatty of Denver. She attended St. Leander's Elementary and graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School in 1955. After volunteering for years as a ""candy striper"" in Pueblo hospitals it came as no surprise when she enrolled in the Loretto Heights College graduating in 1959 with a BS in Nursing. Sally attended graduate school at Catholic University in Washington DC, where she earned her master's degree in Nursing with an emphasis in Public Health. She returned to the Denver area to work as a visiting nurse for Tri-County Health before being invited to join the faculty at the University of Colorado as a Public Health nursing instructor. In that position she co-authored a book entitled Continuum of Care. Her next career step was as a nursing consultant with the Colorado Department of Health supervising all maternity health programs and coordinating the delivery of services with public health agencies and hospitals statewide. Sally finished her distinguished nursing career as a Program Officer for the Colorado Trust Foundation, responsible for funding strategies and program development to advance the health conditions of the state's under-served population. Nothing made her happier than assisting those in need. After retirement Sally used her talents traveling the world in support of humanitarian medical missions. Her passion for service rivaled her passion for travel. Throughout her life she traveled extensively with her friends and beloved nieces and nephews. Sally was a devoted aunt who created many wonderful memories with her nieces and nephews spanning three generations, visiting monuments, national parks and foreign countries. She had a generous and soft soul, and will be truly missed by all who loved her intellect, compassion and contributions to the advancement of health in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sally's honor may be made to Catholic Relief Services. www.crs.org Please share memories of Sally and condolences with the family by signing the guest book below.
