Sandy Moore, 74, passed away on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, generosity and memories with the family and friends who meant everything to her.Sandy was born on July 6, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, to Fay Houston and Gerald Altman. She grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora Central High School in 1970.
On April 5, 1974, Sandy married Raymond “Gene” Moore, the love of her life. Together, they built a life centered around family and raised their three sons, Brian, Robert and Jeff and their nephew, Patrick, also held an especially important place in their family and was loved by Sandy and Gene like a son.
If there was one thing you could always count on with Sandy, it was that she would be there for the people she loved. She was incredibly caring, thoughtful and generous, always giving to others without expecting anything in return. Whether it was something big or one of the countless little things she did every day, taking care of the people around her simply came naturally to Sandy.
When the boys were growing up, Sandy was the definition of a baseball mom. While Gene coached, she was there making sure everyone got where they needed to be, cheering from the sidelines, keeping score and spending countless hours at ball fields and sporting events.
Family remained at the center of Sandy's life as her boys grew and started families of their own. She was an incredibly proud grandma to Andrew, Ashlyn, Brilynn and Colton. Being their grandma brought her so much joy. She was especially excited about becoming a great-grandma in October 2026 and couldn't wait to meet her great-grandson. Although she won't get the chance to hold him as she had so eagerly anticipated, he will grow up knowing how loved he already was and just how excited she was for his arrival.
Sandy was also an avid bowler and spent many years bowling in leagues, even making it to the state bowling tournament. She loved tennis and could often be found watching a match, with one of her wishes being to someday attend the U.S. Open. She loved watching the Olympics and was a devoted Denver Broncos fan, especially when it came to John Elway.
She loved gardening, garage sales and searching for antiques. Her love of antiques became more than a hobby through her booth space at Heirlooms Antiques, which she had for more than 30 years. It was also a love she passed down to Robert and something the two of them enjoyed together over the years, searching for special finds, discovering hidden treasures and sharing the excitement of what they might come across next.
Some of her favorite times were spent simply being with family, including special trips to Glenwood Springs, Las Vegas and Central City.
The holidays were especially important to Sandy, and Christmas was her favorite. For the Moore family, Christmas wouldn't have been quite the same without Sandy's Heavenly Hash, a tradition that will forever bring back memories of her.
And Sandy was unmistakably Sandy. Most days, you could find her in her Levi's 505 jeans, a Rangeview School jacket and her Skechers. She didn't need anything fancy. She was happiest being herself and surrounded by the people she loved.
In April 2025, Sandy lost Gene after 51 years of marriage. Losing the person she had shared nearly her entire adult life with left a tremendous emptiness. She missed him deeply every day that followed. For those who knew how much Sandy and Gene loved one another, there is comfort in believing that after their time apart, they are together once again.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Fay Houston and Gerald Altman, and her beloved husband, Raymond “Gene” Moore.
She is survived by her sons, Brian Moore and wife Kara of Hays, Kansas; Robert Moore of Strasburg, Colorado; and Jeff Moore and wife Chelsea of Aurora, Colorado; her grandchildren, Andrew and fiancée Chloe, Ashlyn, Brilynn and Colton.
She is also survived by her nephew, Patrick Silver, his wife Sandra and daughter Naya of St. Petersburg, Florida; her sisters, Valerie Altman and Cheryl Silver; and nieces and nephews Kenny Coyle, Gina Coyle-Lisowe, Deanna Helderman, Artina Coyle, Craig Silver and Cally Dalton. She also leaves behind Jamie Chavez and her daughters, Brianna and Kaitlyn, who held a special place in Sandy’s heart and remained part of the family through the years.
Sandy's life wasn't defined by one big thing. It was found in the thousands of little ways she loved people—in showing up, giving generously, taking care of her family, cheering from the sidelines, celebrating the holidays, making the phone calls and making sure the people she loved knew exactly how she felt about them.
And no phone call with Sandy was really over until you heard those familiar words: “Love you, honey. Bye.”
Those words will be missed more than she could have ever known, but they'll also be remembered.
And after more than 50 years together and over a year apart, we'd like to think Gene was there waiting to greet her with a familiar: “Love you, honey.”
