Sandra Lee Kastner, lovingly known as Sandy, was born in Denver, Colorado on June 19, 1949. She attended Woodland Park College High School and continued her education at Aurora Community College. Sandy went on to build a long and successful career with the Federal Government in the Department of Defense, where she served as a Financial Specialist. Her dedication, attention to detail, and strong work ethic defined her professional life until her retirement in 2003.
On June 20, 1981. Sandy married the love of her life, Michael Rae Kastner, at The Little Chapel in Heritage Square in Golden, CO. Together they created a love story that others only dream of, rooted in deep friendship, unwavering loyalty, shared laughter, and a bond that only strengthened over time. Mike and Sandy’s hearts were always open, especially to their family and to the many dogs they lovingly cared for over the years. Their home was filled with warmth, devotion, and the gentle joy that Sandy naturally brought to every space she entered. They celebrated 44 years of marriage.
Sandy was preceded in death by her father Bud Pierson, her mother Geraldine Pierson, her sister Kathy Bender, and granddaughter Morgan Kastner.
She is survived by her beloved husband Mike Kastner, who remained her constant source of love and strength.
She is also survived by: Stepson Michael Kastner (grand children Logan, Brianna and Michael Kastner), Stepdaughter Stacey Kastner Short (spouse Joe Short; grand children Gavin and Graham Short), Brother in Law Donnie Kastner; Niece Becky Kastner Sassaman (spouse Nate Bernstein; great-nephew Max Sassaman; great-niece Madison Sassaman), Nephew Andrew Kastner (spouse Paula Kastner; great-niece Kailee Carver; great-nephew Jack Kastner), Nephew Logan Kastner, Nephew Steve Bender (spouse Danielle Bender).
