Sandra Sue Hrouda (Sandy), age 82, a citizen of Heaven, last resided in Arvada Colorado. God called her home on Saturday August 1, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette Colorado after a fall that complicated her lengthy health challenges.

She was born May 7, 1944 in Denver Colorado to parents, George W and Alyss N McMullen who loved and raised her along with 11 brothers and sisters in Leadville Colorado.

Married in 1969 she and her husband John raised three boys in Arvada Colorado where they loved and celebrated life everyday of their 55 year marriage.

Sandy loved the Lord, her family and the USA. She kept a lamp burning and prayed on bended knee for the 14 members of her family that served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Sandy loved antiques, celebrating holidays with her family and friends, and was most proud of being a grandma. She attended the Ralston Creek Church in Arvada Colorado where she regularly worshiped and made friends with people of numerous foreign countries. Sandy served actively in a prayer group, “Tuesday Morning Joy (TMJ).” This beautiful and altruistic group of women prayed for and poured into the lines of countless people in need. Sandy was also a proud member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks where her love of justice, charity, brotherly love and fidelity served as principally on which a life of selfless service was built and actualized.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Hrouda, many of her siblings, two sons (Thomas Allen and William Micahel Hrouda), a grandson (Nathaniel Louis Hrouda), and daughter-in-law Peggy Sue Hrouda.

Sandy is survived by her son (Daniel L Hrouda), her grandchildren (Vaughn D Dahlstrom, Emily R Calvillo, Rachel S and Johnathan D. L. Hrouda). She is also survived by her siblings Mike and Shelia McMullen, Janice “Judy” Marrs and Terrance “Terry” Cramer.

Sandy will watch vigilantly over many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will deeply miss her.

A private cremation on August 10, 2026 will be followed by a praise focused celebration of life on Friday August 21, 2026 at 10AM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Tim Rosenow of Ralston Creek Church at the Horan and McConaty located at 7577 W 80th Ave, Arvada CO.

Pallbearers are Daniel and Johnathan Hrouda.

Honorary Pallbearers are Rachel Hrouda and Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

A reception will follow at the Lakewood Elks Lodge #1777 at 1455 Newland St, Lakewood CO.

A private interment will be held at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery on August 24, 2026 at 12:30 PM.
