Samuel B. Tompkins

I Corinthians 15:42-44 So is the resurrection of the dead: Sown in corruption, raised in incorruption; Sown in dishonor, raised in glory; Sown in weakness, raised in power; Sown a natural body, raised a spiritual body.

Samuel, better known as Sam, is the fourth child of ten siblings born to Christian parents who were farmers in South Carolina. After leaving the farm at age seventeen, Sam served in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years. His military assignments were in Japan, Illinois, Minnesota, France, England, South Korea, California, and Colorado. Sam worked for another twenty-one years in the U.S. Postal Service, and afterward volunteered as a Victims Advocate with the Aurora Police Department.

Sam was married to Joan, his grade school sweetheart, and raised three children, Yvonne (Stan), Wayne (Becca), and Cheryl, who he leaves behind. Sam also leaves behind six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, in addition to two brothers and two sisters, all of whom he greatly loved.

Sam loved to help people. He served as a Sunday school teacher and was a known prayer warrior. He loved his wife, his family, and people in general. He also enjoyed walking, exploring nature and husbandry. But more than anything, Sam loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

2 Corinthians 5:8  To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
