Samuel David Stephens, age 97, a resident of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away in his sleep on February 27, 2014. Sam was an active member of the community and participated in the local Ham Radio Club, the Lakewood Shutterbugs Camera Club, the Telephone Pioneers, and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. Sam, and wife Rosalie, were members of the Lakewood United Methodist Church. Sam was born in Camp Verde, Arizona on November 13, 1916. He served in the US Navy from October 28, 1942 to October 27, 1945. He married Rosalie (Woon) Stephens on December 28, 1946, with whom he lived until her death on May 31, 2010. They had five sons, Ernest, James, Fred, Walter and Bill. Sam was an electrical engineer and worked for Mountain Bell until he retired in 1980. Sam was preceded in death by his sons, Fred Stephens and Ernest Stephens, his brother, Charles William Stephens and his wife, Rosalie (Woon) Stephens. He is survived by his sister Myrtle Dillard, his sons, James Stephens, Walter Stephens and William Stephens and his granddaughters, Rebecca Stephens, Jaimie Stephens and Sarah Stephens.
