Sam Feldman was a thoughtful, decent, gentle man. He was pure in spirit and kind at heart. He lived true to his powerful convictions of fairness, respect, and opportunity, especially in support of the least privileged. Sam was born in Philadelphia to Jakob and Hanna Feldman. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1936 before serving in World War II. His first career was with the International Union of Mine, Mill, and Smelter Workers, at the forefront of the progressive American labor movement. After 30 years Sam chose a new path as a high school English teacher at Cherry Creek High School. He earned a master's degree from the University of Colorado and remained a life-long learner. Into his mid-90s he audited university courses in literature, history, and the arts. Sam died while sleeping next to his wife, Aroxie, to whom he was devoted above all else for 66 years and forever. Sam is also survived by his children, Ann Feldman (Thomas) Perille, and William Feldman; granddaughters Elizabeth, Laura, and Maria Perille. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel located at 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado at 11:15AM.
