Sally Jane Owens

Sally Jane Owens, age 81, died on May 30, 2026, in Centennial, CO. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death.

Sally was born in Minneapolis, MN. Her parents were Carl and Esther Hulander. She attended Rapid City Central High School in Rapid City, SD. Sally graduated from the University of Minnesota, Mankato, in 1967 with a teaching degree. Following graduation, Sally began a career teaching in Minneapolis that continued in Wisconsin and Colorado.

Sally met her husband, Michael, on a ski vacation in Switzerland, and they married in 1972. Sally then moved to Madison, WI, where she and Michael spent the next 22 years raising a family. They then moved to Colorado in 1994. Sally and Michael were married for 54 years.

Sally was an artist who loved to paint and draw and continued to do so late in life. She also loved spending time outdoors and in nature. Sally was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading cookbooks.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Michael Owens, and their two daughters, Jennifer Jane Oriel (Thomas) and Shawn Michelle Owens, and her grandchildren: grandsons Matthew, Jack, and Finn, and granddaughter Keira. Sally had a deep love for her family, and her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her spirit and courage will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.

Internment services will be private for immediate family at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI. The family requests no flowers. Those wishing to honor her life can donate in her name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.
