Ruth Ann Evans (Schlager)

Ruth was born on 8/19/1955 to Donald and Elfrieda Schlager in Scottsbluff, NE. She and her family moved to Greeley, CO in March of 1960. But she remained a farm girl at heart. She was active in 4-H and her church – Trinity Lutheran.

Ruth graduated from UNC in Greeley in 1978 with a degree in nursing. Her first nursing position was Med-Surg at Mercy Medical Center in Denver. She was offered a position in the NICU in Greeley and never looked back. Ruth had found her passion in caring for babies and their families. If you do what you love you will never work again.

In 1981 Ruth moved to Denver and worked in the NICU at Denver Health. She was then offered a position at Denver Health. Then offered a position by Childrens Colorado to become an advanced practice nurse. Ruth then spent the rest of her professional career caring for parents and their infants in NICUs across the Denver Metro area. The majority of her time was at CHCO, where she worked transport and in the hospital NICU setting.

She met the love of her life - Wayne Evans – December 1988 and married him on 9/16/1989. With him, she became an avid bike rider and hiker. Her other interests included sewing, baking, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. Still a farm girl.

Ruth is survived by her best friend and husband – Wayne. Also, her brother Mark Schlager and wife – Kathy and nephew Matt Schlager.

Memorials – Wildlife Animal Sanctuary in Keenesberg CO or Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue in Denver CO.
