Our beloved Rubina Ann Cannon is no longer in pain. Sadly, she left our world in the early hours of July 23, 2024, in Denver, CO with a large group of family by her side.
Rubina’s parents, Robert & Christina Burke welcomed her into this world in Durango, CO on the evening of July 27, 1958. She was provided an amazing childhood & completed High School in Panama City, near the Panama Canal, where she was the eldest sister to Steve, Edie & Joe Burke and an admired friend to many.
Rubina with her family, eventually moved to Farmington, NM. There, Rubina married Edward Smith, & by the age of 24, she had 4 children under the age of 4. She was a loving mother to Brandy, Barbie, Brittany, & Eddie Bohannan. Last but not least, her beloved dog, Houston. Together, they moved away from the amazing & beloved family they shared in Farmington to raise their children near her parents in Denver CO. There, Rubina attended Technical College. She was an early childhood educator and all of her children attended preschool. She met many of her & her family's lifelong friends there.
In 1998 Rubina was remarried to her devoted husband Anthony J. Cannon. Rubina and Anthony loved, & enjoyed being Nana & Papa to Corra, CelesteBrshawn, Diamond, Shawnay, De'Janay, Simone, Raymond Jr, Desiree, Shawn Jr., Ebony, Xavier, Brandon, Zavion, Justis, Sydney, Aubrina, Desmond, Zauria, Myzail, and Hazel, & 11 great-grandchildren. Her bloodline is vast and momentous. It will continue to live on within us forever.
Rubina was a proud American, who worked for the US Census, and was proud to be a bookkeeper for her father at Rob’s Guns. Rubina loved the Lord. She would always read, & share her Bible verses with her family. She also loved to have fun & was the life of the party. She was fearless and strong! Rubina’s favorite time was being with her huge family and riding with Anthony to visit their parents every weekend. They remained best friends and were deeply devoted to each other until her final day. She meant the world to her kids & grandkids and they always showed it by yelling 727 whenever they saw it. Their lives will be very different without her. She was always there, and will remain in our hearts until the end of time.
Her family has chosen Horan & McConaty to assist with her memorial services. A final resting place for her cremation will be located in Denver. Reception services will follow for family & close friends. We are grateful for all of those who loved her. We know there are many!
