Ronald Lee Olivas

March 20, 1958 — September 30, 2023

Ronald Olivas, age 65, passed away on September 30, 2023 surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Ronald was born in Espanola, New Mexico on March 20, 1958, to Abdon Jr. and Sophie. He moved to Colorado at the age of 7 and was a graduate of Kennedy High School.

Ron met and married Betty/Cricket who was the love of his life. They were married for almost 30 years before her passing. Ron worked for Qwest for over 30 years before retiring. The highlight of his working career included working in communications for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was a hardworking, caring father who always put his family before himself. He was also one of the most considerate, generous people who never hesitated to help anyone in need - often to the point of “offering the shirt off his back”. He was a very loving, kind, and funny uncle and Nino and he also treasured his many pets!

You would often find him playing the poker machines in Blackhawk and Las Vegas with his twin brother. It certainly won’t be the same without him there.

He was an avid Chargers football fan and a sports collectables enthusiast. He also was a member of the Colorado Van Association for 4 decades. He owned a van named “Chiquita” which appeared in a vanning magazine.

Ron was a lifetime owner and driver of various corvettes. He displayed his latest Corvette in the Corvette show in Grand Lake, Colorado.

He is survived by his sons Aaron and Christopher; grandchild, Christopher Jr.; twin brother, Donald (Mona); and sister, Brenda. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty "Cricket"; brother, Kenny; and his parents. He was beloved by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
