Ronald Alphonse Michaud, 83, of Lakewood, Colorado, died on April 25, 2025. Ron was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Louis and Jeanette Michaud on December 18, 1941. He spent his childhood growing up in the Connecticut and Massachusetts area. He went to two different Marist affiliated High Schools in Massachusetts. Upon graduating he worked for a couple different jobs before joining the Marines in 1961. He served only a short time before being discharged for a medical issue. In 1962, with the convincing of a family friend, his parents moved the family to Denver.
Upon arriving Ron found work at Loretto Heights College doing maintenance. He worked at the college for 25 years. The college was being sold, so he decided to leave and take a job at Lutheran Hospital. The hospital job lasted only a couple years before he found the job at the University of Denver. It was at DU that he finished out his career and retired in 2006.
It was at Loretto Heights College that he met a good friend, Gene Milan, who set Ron up on a double date and that is where he first met Mary Kathleen Hume. That was the moment his love for Kathleen began and on July 11, 1964 they were married. Together they had five children and were active in the Catholic church. Ron was a dedicated husband and father who provided a wonderful life for his family. The example he set of dedication to family and hard work lives on in his children. One of his loves was square dancing with Mom and their church square dancing group the “Cloudstompers.”
Ron is survived by his children: Ann (Joel) Hager, Laura (Scott) Shirley, Andy (Kathy) Michaud, Julie (Del) Zopf and Matthew Michaud, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Ron is preceded in death by his wife Mary Kathleen Michaud.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 10am followed by funeral mass at 11am, both to be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9405 W. Florida Ave., Lakewood. Private committal will held at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colorado.
