With deep sadness we announce that Ron Fischer passed away August 28th, 2024.
He was a loving husband to his wife Joy for 60 years, father to his daughter Lynne, and grandfather to his 2 grandchildren, Jaylen and Trey.
Ron was born in Illinois on December 16, 1939 to Herbert and Loretta (Georg) Fischer. He went to Illinois State University to become a teacher. He moved to Colorado in 1963 to pursue his passion in teaching. Ron married the love of his life, Joy Lattig August 16, 1964. He taught 6th grade at Wilmore Davis Elementary in Wheat Ridge for 34 years. Ron loved teaching science, taking his students to outdoor lab school, and playing baseball with all of them at recess. He also volunteered in his daughter Lynne’s 6th grade classroom at Campbell Elementary in Arvada.
His passions were the St. Louis Cardinals, going to sporting events, hiking, camping, and spending time with his family. Ron (known as Papa) was a huge part of his grandchildren’s lives. He would take and pick them up from school, play games with them, and was always at their school and sports events.
There will be a public viewing for Ron on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Horan and McConaty at 80th and Wadsworth from 4-8. Due to Ron’s love of the St. Louis Cardinals, feel free to wear red or casual attire.
