Rodney Frederick Fuller (“Rod”) was born on November 13, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas, and passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026. He was 72 years old.
Rod’s family moved to Colorado in 1956, where Rod grew up and graduated from Westminster High School. After school, Rod earned his journeyman pipefitter license, and continued in the profession for four decades, retiring as a foreman. Countless young pipefitters learned their craft under Rod’s watchful eye, and he was so proud to see them grow to become skilled craftsmen and capable professionals.
An avid fisherman and bird hunter, Rod enjoyed all things outdoors. During his retirement, he could be found catching fish across the beautiful state of Colorado, in Canada, and with good friends on Lake Powell (though we should note, the actual size and quantity of these fish remain in question despite Rod’s assertions that all of his fishing stories were true).
While in high school, Rod met the love of his life, Nancy Sue Newton. Rod and Nancy were married in 1975, and remained inseparable until Nancy’s passing in 2019. Together, Rod and Nancy made a beautiful home which they shared with their beloved dogs Uriah, Roxie, Katie, and Lola. They loved to host friends and family for cookouts, card games, and holiday parties. Rod could usually be found near the grill, telling colorful stories and making everyone around him just a little bit happier than before they arrived.
The oldest of five children, Rod had a big family and loved every minute with them. As the big brother, Rod paved the way for his siblings to follow in his footsteps. In his last months, his wonderful siblings were by his side, doing their best to ensure Rod had the love, support, and peace he needed. Rod never missed an opportunity to express how lucky he was, but in fact, it was all of us who were lucky to know and love him.
Rod is predeceased by his parents, Chuck and Mary Ellen, his brother, David, and his wife, Nancy. Rod is survived by his sisters, Kathy Dieringer (Dale) and Michelle Steenson (Michael), and his brother, Steve Fuller (Mary Ann). He is also survived by his nieces, Michelle Hernandez and Sarah Steenson, and his nephews, Steven Steenson, Jonathan Dieringer, Spencer Fuller, Kalin Fuller, and Emmett Newton, as well as many beloved cousins.
To Karen and Doug, Colleen and Leroy, and to all of Rod’s friends and neighbors who are too numerous to name: Thank you for loving Rod and for letting him love you. You all meant more to him than words could ever express.
