Roberta Lucile Nelson, age 69, went peacefully home to be with her Lord on May 8, 2025 in Denver, Colorado.
Roberta was born on July 16, 1955 in Denver, Colorado, to Vernon and Lucile Moore. She was affectionately known as “Bobbi” or “Bobbie Lu.” Roberta grew up attending public schools in the Denver Metro area and graduated from North High School in 1973.
In her early years, she enjoyed participating in local community, school, and church activities, taking dance classes, singing in choirs, playing the piano, taking care of her pets, and going on family trips across the country to visit friends and relatives. She liked to go skiing and horseback riding, attend summer camps, and participate in 4H club. Her mother taught her to sew at an early age, and it was a highlight for Bobbi and her friends from 4H to enter their sewing projects in the state fair where Bobbi won many ribbons and awards. Her adult brothers and sisters, and their children, loved sending their younger “Sis” letters and cards and Roberta kept up with many pen pal friends throughout her growing up years. Family and friends were a very important part of her life.
After graduation, Roberta worked for several years as an administrative professional in the oil and gas industry. In 1984, she married Gary Nelson and embraced the promotional opportunity to serve as a caring wife, homemaker, and mother to her two children and began raising a family in Edgewater, Colorado.
As a faithful attendee and member of Beth Eden Baptist Church, she enjoyed worship services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, and ministries to missionaries.
Roberta was perhaps best known for the depth and breadth of her “card ministry.” She diligently mailed well-wishes and prayerful encouragements to her vast extended family, friends, and church acquaintances, celebrating holidays, anniversaries, weddings, births, and other special occasions.
Roberta is survived by her children Andrea (and Hunter) Hansen, Jaxon (Styler Ells) Nelson; her granddaughters Madeline, Zadie, and Jodie Hansen; her brothers Albert Moore and Vernon Moore; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her beloved parents, Roberta was preceded in death by her former husband Gary Nelson, her brother Edward Moore, and her sisters Shirley Minshall, and Vernadean Moore.
