Roberta Ruth Curtis, 91, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Denver, Colorado. She was born on August 26, 1933, in Denver’s Elyria-Swansea neighborhood, where she spent her childhood singing in the choir and participating in the Camp Fire Girls at Pilgrim Congregational Church. In high school, she participated in ROTC and other clubs.

Roberta attended Swansea Elementary, Wyatt Elementary, and Cole Junior High, and graduated from Manual High School in 1951. She devoted many years to raising her family and volunteering in her community, including serving as PTA President. Later, she returned to school, earning an accounting degree from Front Range Community College at age 47. She went on to work as the Horsemen’s bookkeeper at both Centennial Race Track and Arapahoe Park.

Roberta was the beloved mother to Carole Anne Branstetter and Hal Curtis, and a cherished mother-in-law to Jeff Maslo and Kelly Curtis. She leaves behind six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy. She will be remembered for her curiosity, her kindness, and the joy she shared with everyone around her.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Curtis; her parents, Robert and Ruth Mayer; and her brothers, John Mayer and Charles Mayer.

A celebration of Roberta’s life will take place on August 23, 2025, from noon to 5 p.m. at 7086 Inca Way, Denver, CO 80221.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, the Sierra Club, or another environmental conservation organization that is dear to your heart, honoring her generous spirit of giving and dedication to community support.
