Robert (“Bob”) A. Scipione, 83, formerly of Bedford, N.H. and Malverne, N.Y. died July 30, 2021, in the hospital in Lone Tree, CO.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 31, 1937, the son of Dominick and Sabina (DiPaola) Scipione. He grew up and attended Brooklyn Prep High School in Brooklyn, attended college at St. John’s University and received a master’s degree in chemistry from LIU – CW Post College. He was joined in marriage with Mary F. Scipione (Zonneveld) in July 1963 until she passed away in September 2011. Together they resided in Valley Stream and Malverne, NY until 2002 when they moved to Bedford, N.H. In 2016, Bob moved to Denver, CO and lived in Washington Park until his passing.
For over 30 years, Bob worked as a biochemist at the Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y., was a tenured adjunct professor of chemistry at Nassau County Community College and taught high school chemistry at Massapequa High School.
Bob was a lover of the arts – especially the opera and chamber music. He loved to read (especially the New Yorker), cook, play the piano and quilt.
He is survived by his son, John E. Scipione of Aurora, CO; a daughter Ellen S. Scipione (Gallegos) of Corinth, ME; his five grandchildren (Christian, Isabella, Gianna, Dominick & Joseph); a brother, Donald L. Scipione of West Orange, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
