Robert James Patterson, age 91, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 9th, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Pauline Patterson.

Born during the Great Depression in rural Southern Colorado to William James and Paublita Patterson, Robert was one of 13 siblings. His youth was marked by hard work, as he took on various jobs to support his family, including setting pins at the local bowling alley and shining shoes. This instilled in him a strong work ethic that guided him throughout his life.

In December 1949, Robert married Lucille and together they raised a family of 10 children: Robert, Lucille, Lana, Penny, Yvonne, Michael, William, Ronnie, Gordon, and Jordan. Moving to Denver in the early 1960s, Robert pursued various occupations, including construction work, truck driving for the Salvation Army, and utilizing his exceptional mechanical skills. He could diagnose engine problems with uncanny accuracy, a skill that persisted even as his hearing declined in later years. Robert also worked for HUD and played a significant role in the implementation of the National Head Start program.

A pivotal moment in Robert's life occurred when he embraced Christianity and devoted the latter half of his life to serving the Lord. He served as a Pastor, Evangelist, mentor, and spiritual leader at his church in Barnum, where he ministered until his retirement at the age of 84.

Robert found immense joy in his family, especially in his children, grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren. His face lit up at the sight of his babies, and he was cherished by all who knew him.

A visitation for Robert will be held on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, beginning with a viewing from 1:30-2:30, followed by the funeral service from 2:30-3:30 officiated by Fred Patterson Sr.

Robert will be cremated, and his remains will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery alongside his loving wife Lucille Patterson and granddaughter Meghan Reifschneider, who preceded him in death.
