Robert Sullivan Behrns M.D.

Bob Behrns, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died at the age of 92 in Denver, CO on January 18, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Joseph Behrns and Elizabeth Sullivan Behrns, and sister Elizabeth Cirone (husband Vincent Cirone).

He graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas in 1945. He enlisted in the ASTRP Army Specialized Reserve Program in 1946. During his service he was sent to Fukuoka, Japan and was discharged in 1947. He received a B.A. degree from the University of Omaha in 1950 and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1953, finishing a Residency in Neurology and Psychiatry in 1957.

He moved to Denver, becoming a permanent resident, where he had a private practice, as well as time spent at Denver University Health Service, Denver General Hospital, and the Colorado Federal Disability Department. He was a member of the Colorado Psychiatric Society and received a 50 years of service recognition in Psychiatry in 2006 by the American Psychiatric Association.

Bob loved fishing (and telling ""fish"" stories). He spent time in the yard planting trees, caring for beehives, growing grapes, as well as making and enjoying wine. He was a lifelong Nebraska Huskers fan. He had a great sense of humor and shared laughter with family and friends through the years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Alyce Behrns (nee Paasch); children: Linda Behrns, David Behrns (Ross Garcia), John Behrns (Cassandra Roper); granddaughter: Anya Behrns; sister: Loye Bussey, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

His warmth, wisdom and humor will be sorely missed.

A funeral mass will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 11:00 on January 30, 2200 So. Harrison St. followed by a reception. Interment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum
