Robert ""Bob"" Lee McCord

Robert ""Bob"" Lee McCord, 76 of Thornton, Colorado, passed away on October 1, 2014. Bob was born on October 17, 1937 in, Weiser, Idaho to James and Georgia McCord. He had thirteen siblings, Jimmy McCord, Laura Youngblood, Dorothy (Elvin) Craig, Shirley Mitchell, Gerald ""Mike"" McCord, Maryanne (Blacky) Myers, Cherry Krause, Vina Brommel, LaDena Wynhoff, Herbert (Diane) McCord, Donald McCord, John (Sherry) McCord and Greg (Susan) McCord. He grew up in Echo, Oregon. When he was 17 he went into the Naval Reserves and at age 18 he enlisted in the Air Force. During his tour of duty he met his wife *Ruth Arlene Smith. They were married on May 2, 1958. When he was 22 years old, he professed to serve God. They welcomed five children into their lives, David Lee, Janice Arlene, Douglas Eugene, Darrell James and Daylin Leroy McCord. They raised their family in Denver where Bob worked at the Denver Federal Center (Bureau of Reclamation) for thirty-one years. Bob had several different titles; brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He has several nieces and nephews, six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He enjoyed sports and played football, baseball and basketball in school. He also appreciated spending time in the mountains, camping, hunting and fishing. He loved his family and spending time with them. He also loved helping others, working on cars, fixing things, bird watching, airplanes and simply living life to the fullest. He truly treasured visiting with others and enjoying fellowship. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Georgia McCord, three brothers, seven sisters, his beloved wife, Ruth Arlene and son Daylin Leroy. He is survived by his brothers, Herbert (Diane), John (Sherry), Greg (Susan), his children, David (Diane), Janice (Jeff), Douglas (Linda) and Darrell (Glenda), his grand children, Mellissa (Christian), Jason (Lori), Brandon (Elyse), Jeremy, Jordan (Lauren) Chelsea (AJ) and his great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 starting at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. A Committal Service will follow the Funeral Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
