Robert Kelly Burns

Robert Kelly Burns, born December 10, 1953, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, passed away on August 31, 2026, from COPD, surrounded by family and friends. He will be remembered as a reserved and kind man with a great sense of humor, whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around him.

Robert devoted his professional life to serving others as a Mental Health Therapist. In that work, he gave care, understanding, and support to many people over the course of his career. He later retired, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. Outside of his profession, he loved anything Star Trek and found joy in sharing time with his family.

Family was at the heart of Robert’s life, and he especially enjoyed being with those he loved. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Burns, and by his children: sons Robert, Josh, and Jonathan, and daughters Kaylene, Justice, and Nyqyi. Their lives carry forward the love, humor, and steady spirit that defined him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Burns, and his mother, Ilomay Burns. He remained connected to the foundation they gave him, and their memory was part of the story of his life.

Visitation will be held on October 3, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation - Southeast Denver/Aurora, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, Colorado 80014. A funeral service will follow there from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place on October 3, 2026, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1315 Acero Ave, Pueblo, Colorado 81004.

Robert Kelly Burns will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew him. His kindness, humor, dedication to others, and love for his family will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
