Robert F. Hansen Jr.

(“Bob,” “Mr. H,” “H,” and lovingly called “Pete” by his family)

Robert F. Hansen Jr. was born October 9, 1945, and died April 3, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Hansen, both WWII veterans. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Hansen (Gilbert, Arizona), and former wife, Nan Webster (Lincoln, Nebraska). Bob was a friend to all and is also survived by countless friends.

Bob was born in Ogden, Utah, but moved shortly thereafter to Denver, Colorado, and always considered himself a Colorado native. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Northern Colorado. Bob taught elementary physical education in Littleton Public Schools for more than 30 years. He was a student favorite and received Honorable Mention in the 1983 Teacher of the Year program. After retiring, he worked as an usher at Coors Field.

Bob was a sports enthusiast as an elementary student, high school athlete, teacher, coach, referee, and gambler. In his youth, he played in the Old Timers League. He lettered in football, basketball, and baseball at Lincoln High School in Denver. He coached in the AYL in both baseball and football for many years as a Leopards coach. In 1972, he took the 12-year-old “All Stars” team to the Bronco World Series in St. Joseph, Missouri, where they placed second.

Bob was a bit of a gambler, both playing poker on the Hill and predicting sporting outcomes, and it has been validated that he was indeed a winner on the Hill. When it came to knowing sports, there was no one better than Bob. He participated in numerous pools and enjoyed betting on sporting predictions. Bob was the person to call if you wanted sports trivia, statistics, or projections.

Bob was a joke man, both clean and less-than-clean. He spread laughter even farther through email and text messages, sending a daily dose of smiles to friends and family. He was always mindful of his audience, never sending a joke to anyone who would not appreciate the humor.

Bob was a generous spirit who worked tirelessly to make sure the people around him had a smile on their face and joy in their hearts, no matter what they were going through. He was a true friend who would do anything to support the people he loved, and he loved and cared for many.

Bob requested that no formal services be held; however, a gathering of friends is being organized.

In lieu of flowers, Bob would be honored by donations made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization he supported for more than 20 years.

Bob never left a room without telling at least one joke. In that spirit, what did the buffalo say to the little boy before dropping him off at school? … “Bison!”
