Robert “Bob” Frye, Denver native, passed away on December 8, 2025, and will be missed by many.
He was an Eagle Scout, the Denver East High class of 1949 Head Boy, graduated from Princeton University in 1953 where he sang in the Tiger Tones. A Naval Officer’s Candidate School graduate, he served in Japan during the Korean War and on Washington State’s Bainbridge Island.
After the war he got his law degree in 1960 from the University of Denver, practiced law in Denver, and was the legal aide to U.S. Senator Gordon Allott (R-CO) 1963-1966. He served as president of the University Club of Denver and Denver Lions Club and was influential in the creation of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute and Foundation.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by daughter Cheryl and is survived by his wife of nearly 72 years, Shirley, sons Rob and Greg, son-in-law Steve Adams, grandchildren Jason, Matt, Laura, Jennie, and Jessie, as well as 3-½ great-grandchildren.
A gentleman who cared about others, always with a kind word, a skier, fly fisherman, and frequent punster, his dry wit and quick smile will endure.
A private family memorial service will be held in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation (RMLEIF) at https://www.rmleif.org/donate.
