Robert ‘Bob’ McCrae Wright, age 82, passed away at The Gardens at Columbine on June 17, 2026. He was born on August 2, 1943 in St. Thomas Ontario Canada, a small railroad town outside of London. In his early years, Bob was an accomplished athlete who enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. After high school, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he served as an airplane mechanic. Eventually he moved to Florida where he was a commercial and residential contractor and later a building inspector. Along the way, he pursued many other ventures, including owning a motorcycle business, a restaurant, and working in real estate. There wasn’t much Bob didn’t try – he truly believed in living life to the fullest.
After taking early retirement, Bob moved to Colorado, where he met his wife, Debbie. Although retired, he continued working in a variety of roles. Together, Bob and Debbie volunteered as ski instructors with the National Sports Center For the Disabled at Winter Park, Colorado - a labor of love.
As grandchildren began to fill their lives, Bob and Debbie quickly became devoted grandparents. Family became Bob’s greatest priority. He also loved camping and traveling, and by the end of his life, there was nothing left on his bucket list.
Bob is survived by his wife Debbie, his sister Kathy (Gary) Robinson, his son, Michael (Stephanie) Howell, his son Casey (Autumn) Lokan, his step-son Jake (Jenny) Stevenson, his step-son Josh (Brenda) Stevenson, grandchildren Madison Howell, CJ Lokan, Jordan (Blaire), Jade and Jackson Stevenson, Skylord (Ruby) Contreras, Shyane (Christopher) Bell, Nicholas and Zoey Stevenson and great-grandchildren Madelyn, Nathan and Hunter Bell.
Bob is also survived by his nephew Steve (Eva) Robinson, nieces Nancy (Doug) Chamberlain and Heather Robinson, and great-nieces Victoria and Olivia Robinson, Rebecca and Leanne Chamberlain and great-nephew Mitchell Robinson and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marion Wright and his great-niece Julia Robinson.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood on July 9, 2026 at 7 p.m. Bob was a colorful guy so if you are able to attend please show him some love and wear color. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Bob’s favorite charity. He had a special love for children.
Please share memories and condolences with Bob’s family by signing the guestbook.
As Bob would say,
“TTFN!”
