Robert "Bob" A. Stackhouse

December 4, 1964 — April 1, 2024

Denver

Robert (Bob) Stackhouse passed away on April 1, 2024 with a room full of family by his side.

Bob was born on December 4, 1964 to Christine and Harry Stackhouse in Denver, CO, as the youngest of four brothers, Joe (Amy) Stackhouse, Dan (Denise) Stackhouse and John (Maureen) Stackhouse.  Growing up, the brothers did things as a group of four.  Everything from playing 2-on-2 football in the backyard to being called out by their mother as a group, everything was together.  Everything as a group of four.

Throughout his life, Bob found his peace and joy in the great outdoors, indulging in his passion for bow hunting, fishing or simply finding refuge at the family retreat affectionately known as ‘Grandpa’s World’.  He loved driving the mountain roads with the windows down for hours just to be outside.  No matter the destination, Bob rarely took the road most traveled.  His natural inclination towards spending time on the backroads and sideroads even earned him the well-deserved nickname; ‘Backstreet Bob’.

Yet, amidst his love for nature, Bob’s greatest treasure always remained his family. More than all others, Bob held a special place in his heart for his nieces Betsy and Emily, and his nephews, Steve, Nathan, Timothy, David, Jacob, and Nick.  In his inimitable way, Bob showered them with love, laughter and unforgettable, if not always believable, stories.

Beyond his worldly pursuits, Bob possessed a profound faith that guided him through the challenges and triumphs he faced. His unwavering belief was a source of strength for him and an inspiration to those who knew him.  Outwardly, Bob was a highly accomplished curmudgeon, but on the inside, everyone knew he was a marshmallow who made friends in nearly everyone he met.  True to his deep faith, he answered the call to help others in every situation, whether helping his brother move on a Saturday afternoon or stopping along a busy highway in the rain to help a stranded motorist.

Bob spent his life always looking to be first at something.  As the youngest, he had to wait to grow ‘old enough’, had to wait to be ‘tall enough’ and was always last in line for the hand-me-down clothes after the rest of his brothers outgrew them. The sadness we feel today at the loss of our dear brother Bob is tempered by the knowledge that he was never last in our hearts, nor in the eyes of God.  We recognize that while in this world he was seldom first, it was God who chose him as the first to be called to His Kingdom. Our group of four is a group of three for now, and though we know we will meet again, for today nothing can fill that empty space.

We send you home with all our love, Uncle Bob.
