Robert Wayne Applegate (or Bob as he preferred to be called) died April 29, 2026 in his homefrom Congestive Heart Failure. Bob was 90 years old. He was born December 22, 1935 in Kingsley, Iowa.

Bob’s father owned a Brown Swiss Dairy Herd and Bob showed cattle at county fairs, the All Iowa Fair and the National Dairy Cattle Congress. He graduated from High School in 1953 lettering in Football and Track. After working on farms in Northwest Iowa for a few years he was drafted into the Army and spent his basic training in Fort Carson, Colorado. He was sent to the SETAF Army Unit in Verona Italy in Classified Communications and served as a cryptologist.

After his army discharge Bob moved back to Iowa and in September 1962 moved to Colorado. Bob Applegate and Kay Conlee were married in the Lakewood Methodist Church in Lakewood, Colorado on November 30, 1963. They were married for over 62 years. Bob had several jobs until he went to work for the Lederle Drug Division of American Cyanamid Company until the distribution center closed in 1976. As soon as the office closed, Bob went to work as an Outside Wholesale Parts Representative for Lakewood Fordland. He was successful and worked there for 28 years before he retired.

Bob’s hobby was woodworking. He made furniture, clocks and gavels. He enjoyed going hunting. He liked taking the 5th wheel out for camping and going back to Iowa to help with farm work. He enjoyed going out on the Mississippi River to catch catfish. Bob was active in several Masonic organizations and held many offices.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 21st at the Littleton United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Church. Burial of his ashes will be Friday May 22nd at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

Scottish Rite Masonic Center Endowment Fund
