Ricky James Haskell
December 10, 1967 – July 12, 2025
Ricky James Haskell passed away peacefully in his home in Aurora, CO, on July 12, 2025, at the age of 57 years old. He was born on December 10, 1967, to Sandra and James Haskell in Washington, DC.
Ricky graduated from Atholton High School in Howard County, Maryland in 1985. Following high school graduation, he attended University of Maryland Baltimore County, (UMBC), and he pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Maryland Omnicron-Pi Chapter in 1990. He majored in accounting, finance and economics and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics in 1990. He also was the founder of the Accounting Society at UMBC.
After graduation from UMBC, Ricky sat for his CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam and passed on the first examination.
His first position was Senior Auditor/Consultant with Grant Thornton from 1989 –1991.
From 1991–1997, he worked for Integrated Health Services, Inc. (IHS), Patient Financial Services Manager (1991-1993), then Controller in Greater Pittsburgh (1993-1994). During this time, he attended the Community College of Alleghany County, Nursing Home Administrator Certification Course, in order to obtain his Nursing Home Administrator Certification. He became licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) in 1994.
While at Integrated Health Services he held various additional positions: Administrator (1994-1995), Crestwood Convalescent Hospital Monterey, CA; Acting Administrator (1995-1995), Cheyenne Care Center, Las Vegas, NV; Executive Director (1995-1996), Cherry Creek Nursing Center, Denver, CO; Regional Vice President of Operations (1996-1997), Rocky Mountain Region.
He continued a successful career in healthcare administration and finance. He held the position of Director of Operations with Kindred Healthcare, formerly Vencore, Inc. (1997–2000); Executive Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Schryver Medical Sales and Marketing, Inc. (2000–2002). He then founded his own company, Pathways Healthcare Solutions, Inc., Parker, CO, serving as a Healthcare Business and Financial Consultant and Executive Vice President and Operations (2002–2016). From 2016, he continued working as a financial consultant.
Ricky thrived in the world of business, finance, economics, and during his career he was committed to ensuring nursing home residents were treated with respect, comfort and compassion. He was admired by colleagues and clients for his integrity and professionalism.
For over 24 years, Ricky was deeply involved in Freemasonry, serving in leadership roles across multiple Masonic Organizations.
In his spare time, Ricky was an avid Formula1 enthusiast, collector of sports and racing memorabilia, art and rare books. He took great pride in his collections.
Ricky did not have children. He loved his dogs, most recently Nikola who was with Ricky at the end of his life and was very proud of his 3 nephews.
Ricky was a man who loved deeply, lived his life to the fullest, and treasured every moment and opportunity spent with his family and friends. He enjoyed parties, socializing and welcoming friends and family into his home for social gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and always had time for others. His life was a testament to love, loyalty, hard work, socialization and faith. His absence leaves an unimaginable void, and his presence will be felt forever in the lives he touched.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Feneley, his father James Haskell and his stepfather, Dr. Mark Feneley; his sister, Kim MacKenzie (Thomas MacKenzie), and his brother Anthony Haskell (Miles Barnes); his 3 nephews Kurtis, James and Thomas MacKenzie.
The Recitation of the Rosary followed by a Celebration of Life will be held on August 4, 2025 at 5:00 pm at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO, 80122. A Funeral Service with a Masonic Ceremony for his family and friends to attend will be held August 5, 2025 at 11:00 am also at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO, 80122.
