Rick Ready was born on May 21, 1962 in Canon City, Colorado and passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2026 in Morrison, Colorado.

Rick was a proud Colorado native and lifelong state resident who loved his hometown of Cañon City and the community that helped shape him. He was a graduate of the Canon City High School class of 1980. He remained connected to his classmates throughout his life, faithfully attending class reunions and cherishing the friendships he made over the years.

An avid outdoorsman, Rick felt most at home in the mountains and on the water. Hunting and fishing weren’t just hobbies, they were a way of life. Whether it was the excitement of a successful hunt, the peace of a quiet morning on the lake, or simply being surrounded by nature, Rick was happiest outdoors. He loved dogs, especially his loyal black lab, Mandi.

Rick believed in hard work and built a successful career as a building engineer through determination, grit, and an unwavering work ethic. He took pride in doing things the right way and never shied away from a challenge.

More than anything, Rick loved his family. His two nephews, Tim and JJ, held a special place in his heart, and he treasured the time spent with them, creating memories that will last a lifetime for them.

Rick was known for his larger than life personality. He loved a good card game, enjoyed driving his beloved big red truck, and was always the one keeping everyone laughing. He was the family clown, the first to tease someone with a grin and just as willing to laugh when the joke came back his way. His stubborn streak was legendary, but so was his loyalty, generosity, and heart.

Rick is survived by his parents, Leroy and Betty Ready; his brother, Randy (Cheryl); his nephews, Tim (Jamie, and sons Ryker and Cooper); and JJ (Zia).

Though he left us far too soon, Rick’s legacy lives on in every sunrise over the mountains, every cast of a fishing line, every campfire story, every family card game, and every laugh shared among family and friends.
