Richard Kenneth Novak, age 85, passed away in his home on 12 April 2023. He was born to Albert and Kathryn (Stubbe) Novak on November 26, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. He attended Davenport Central High School and enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany and honorably discharged in 1957. He had a long career with the Public Works in Davenport and retired in 1994 as a Superintendent in a Public Works Department.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Ann (McClanahan) in 1966. He later married Elizabeth Ann Elliott whom he was married to for 56 years and who survives him. They resided in Davenport and raised 9 children, Susan K. (Kerry Joynt) of White House, TN; Mary B. Sims of Parker, CO; Nancy E. (Eckart Kessler) of Colorado Springs, CO; Bradley J. (Kathy Novak), of Aurora, CO; Thomas P. Novak of Los Angeles, CA; Laura L. Novak; Patricia A. Novak; Gregory R. Novak; and Steven R. Novak, all of Aurora CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, son Bradley J. and grandson Ryan A. Sims.
Richard and Elizabeth relocated to Aurora, Colorado in 2008 to be closer to 6 of his 9 children and numerous grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of sweets, all sports and was a die-hard Iowa Hawkeye Fan. His greatest joy was with his wife, his 9 children, 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was a humble man, deeply loved by his family and will be missed by all.
Services honoring his life will take place 5 May at 11:00 am at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora Colorado.
