Richard Galen Lewis was born September 29, 1933, in Denver, Colorado to Joe Lewis and Audrey Starbuck.  He passed away on October 5, 2023, with his family by his side.

Dick grew up in the Swansea area of Northeast Denver, and also in Wheatridge.  He was graduated from Wheatridge High School and was an Army Veteran. In 1952, he met Sylvia Geer through mutual friends.  They were married in 1953 after a yearlong courtship. A few years after their union Myron Keith was born, and two years later came Barbara Ann.

Along with his wife Sylivia, the couple started Lewis’ Fine Candies in 1962.  They had candy stores at Lakeside Mall, Boulder Mall, Villa Italia Mall, and Cinderella City Mall.  Dick was a confectioner extraordinaire and was well known for the quality of his candy, especially his chocolates.  Dick and Sylvia ran their candy company until 1999, at which time their son Myron and his wife Heidi took over the business which they ran until 2009.

Dick enjoyed playing golf, especially when he and Sylvia traveled to Maui – a place they loved to visit.  He was a very good cook, and prepared delicious meals for his family. He always used the freshest of ingredients.  It was a treat to sit at his table.  Dick was a loving husband to his wife Sylvia, and a wonderful example of living a life of integrity to Myron and Barbara.  He was very proud of his grandchildren and was so pleased when he became a great-grandfather.

Dick is survived by his son Myron and wife Heidi, his daughter Barbara Wolpert and husband Joe, grandchildren Madison and Kaden Lewis, Olivia (Wolpert) Michel, and her husband Stephen, Joseph Wolpert and his wife Jennifer Francis and great-grandchildren Joshua and Gretchen Michel.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
