Richard Lee "Dick" & Marjorie Ann "Margie" Platz

Marjorie Ann "Margie" Platz (Kellagher) passed away on October 8, 2025, and then was joined with her loving husband, Richard "Dick" Lee Platz on October 9, 2025. They were married for over 69 years and were inseparable throughout their lives. They were the manifestation of enduring love and companionship, even holding hands the days before their passing. It was only natural that they would go together.

Marjorie was born in Denver in 1930 to William M. Kellagher and Anna M. Kellagher (McMonagle). She graduated from Holy Family HS and attended Colorado A&M (CSU) and the University of Denver. She worked for several years at schools in Colorado Springs and Widefield, Colorado, and was a member of PEO Chapter C in Colorado Springs for over 50 years. After moving to Denver, she enjoyed a career in human resources, mostly notably with Empire Savings where she was an HR Assistant Vice President. After her retirement, Marjorie was an active member of The Assistance League of Denver for over 30 years, and a longtime member of the Denver Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee. She loved her Lunch Bunch friends, golf groups, AFA football games with Dick and their Colorado Springs crew, and numerous bridge club friends.

Marjorie brought joy and smiles to everyone she ever met and never had a mean thing to say about anyone. She had a soft spot for babies, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dick was born in 1931 in St Charles, Missouri and moved to Denver with his family in 1943. He graduated from Denver North High School and served in the US Navy for over 8 years as an aircraft mechanic assigned to the USS Essex in San Diego and was also stationed at Buckley Naval Air Station in Aurora, CO. After the Navy, Dick spent his career with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph and through several name changes and assignments in Denver, Greeley and Colorado Springs. Dick retired in 1986 from USWest. Over the years Dick was an active member of Kiwanis and Sertoma service clubs, the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and the "Old Farts" social club. He was always quick with a joke or one-liner up until the day before he died. He never met anyone that he didn't like or want to help if they needed it.

Margie and Dick loved to travel, play golf and most importantly, spend time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marjorie and Dick were preceded in death by their daughter, Ann-Marie Smith (Platz/Richard Smith) and is survived by her son, Richard (Rick) Platz (Ann), and their grandchildren, Ryan Platz (Chelsea), Jacob Platz (Kendahl), Caitlin Swanson (Jono), Devin Denham (Jordan) and Madison Benz (Connor) and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass celebrating Margie and Dick will be held on October 24 , 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame Church, 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver CO.

Private committal will follow later at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer's Association or the National MS Society would be welcome.
