Richard L Karas, known to everyone simply as Rich, passed away on August 25, 2026, in Evergreen, Colorado, after facing cancer with remarkable courage and optimism. He was 55 years old.

Rich was born on January 21, 1971, in Cobleskill, NY. He graduated from Troy High School in 1991 and went on to earn his degree from SUNY Albany in 1994.

Over the years, Rich built a career he was genuinely proud of. He worked as a Senior Account Manager for TPX, an Account Manager at Cologic, a Sales Partner at ThinPrint, and a Lead Account Executive at CenturyLink Business. He also held various sales positions with Intuit, Comcast, 24UNet, and CBeyond. He gave his best to his work.

Yet nothing made Rich prouder than being a good husband to his wife, Crystal. In their three years together, they shared a love that was steady and true, and being her partner was the accomplishment he treasured most.

Anyone who knew Rich knew he was the one who stepped up, always the first to be there for family and friends. He had a keen sense of humor that could make anyone laugh, and he was genuine, independent, loving, and always completely himself. When the odds were against him, he never gave up.

Rich loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and riding his dirt bikes. He found great joy in traveling to new places and in visiting family. No matter where he went, everyone looked forward to being with him.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal McConnell-Karas; his mother, Martha McCann, her partner Charles Malmborg, his aunts and uncles: Constance and Marc Evans, Elizabeth and James Meigel, Robert W McCann Jr, his partner Brenda Perrotti, John and Lisa McCann, Nancy and Barry Seltzer, Stuart McCann, and Verna Staggers; and his cousins Craig Evans, Jason McCann, Andrew Meigel, Jess Hassler, Lynn McCann, Daniel Bartholomew, Justin Bartholomew, Robert W McCann III, and Becky McCann, Joshua McCann, Matthew McCann and Justin McCann and second cousins.

The family wishes to thank the medical teams at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, UC Health, MD Anderson Cancer Center, UCLA Medical Center and Intermountain Health Luthern Hosital along with all the providers and staff who supported Rich through his battle.

May he now rest in peace, remembered always for the love and laughter he gave so freely.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 beginning at 11:00AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00PM both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado. Richard will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery following the Funeral Service at 1:30PM.
