Richard Gregory Ford, lovingly known as Greg or “OG,” passed away April 9, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him. Born in Washington, D.C., to Chaplain Charles Ford and JoAnn Ford, Greg grew up in Arvada, Colorado, where he formed the roots of a life defined by connection, curiosity, and kindness.
Greg attended the University of Colorado Boulder before going on to serve his country as an Officer in the United States Navy, including time stationed in Vietnam. His service reflected the quiet strength and deep sense of duty that carried through every part of his life. Greg later retired as a postal carrier, a role in which he took great pride, cherishing the many relationships he built with people along his route.
Greg was a devoted father to his daughters, Kristin Ford and Noelle Johnson (Brian), and took immense pride in the women they became. Greg shared an extraordinary bond with his granddaughter, Mackenzie. Whether spending quiet time together, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the moment, their connection was filled with laughter, trust, and unconditional love. Mackenzie brought out Greg’s playful spirit, their relationship was a source of deep joy for him and a reflection of the love he gave so freely.
Greg was an avid hiker and daily walker who found peace in nature. Known as a thoughtful soul, he never met a stranger. Greg built lasting relationships wherever he went. Neighbors, fellow walkers, and lifelong friends were drawn to his warmth, humor, and sincere interest in others. He showed up, listened without judgment, and had a way of making even the simplest moments feel meaningful.
He is survived by his brother, Doug Ford, MD; his sister, Debbie Jones; his daughters, Kristin and Noelle (Brian); his beloved granddaughter, Mackenzie; many loving nieces and nephews and his extended family, including his step‑grandchildren and step great‑grandson, Crew.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty in the Rocky Mountain Memorial Park, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014.
