Richard 'Deke' Dieckmann, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 after a long battle with COPD.

He was born on December 29, 1941 in New York, NY to Rudolf and Nina Dieckmann and was the eldest of two children. Richard met his late wife, Janet, at a Halloween party in October 1967. On April 20, 1968, they wed and began an enriched life together full of happiness, love, adventure, and reward that would last an unforgettable 52 years.

Richard retired from his commercial real estate business in 2015 and spent his time enjoying the pleasures of reading, lunching with friends, travelling, and date nights with Janet. He also treasured spending time with his three adult children, their spouses, his six grandchildren, and extended family. A few years after Janet's passing in 2020, Richard moved to a retirement community where he quickly made friends and began enjoying an active senior lifestyle. He always stayed strong in the Lord and his Christian faith, and was a rock for his family. The joy he spread to all who knew him will forever be his legacy.

Richard is survived by his sons Austin of Littleton, CO and Yale of Wilmette, IL; his daughter Tia Elliott, of Scottsdale, AZ, their spouses, and his six grandchildren. He will long be remembered by his family as a wise, loving, and gentle father and "Papa."

Richard was an Army veteran and his ashes were laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in the presence of God and his children. A Celebration of Life was enjoyed immediately after the funeral by his family and closest friends.

Please share memories of Richard and condolences with his family by signing the online guestbook below.
