Dick was a veteran of the United States Army from May, 1953 to May 1955, reserves until 1961. He was a Private First Class in the 44th Infantry Division and the 31st Infantry Division as a Regiment Unit Supply Specialist. He served in the Korean war and earned a National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon and Marksmanship badge.
Dick was an accountant working at Geico Insurance, Gart Brothers Sporting Goods and Sports Authority. His interests included travel, bowling and golf.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Johnson and Carl Johnson; wife Elma Johnson; daughter-in-law Barbara Igo. Survived by son, Michael Igo of Goodview, VA; granddaughter Brianna (Jarrett) Davis of Floyd, VA; great-grandson Chance (Paige) Harrison of Fayetteville, NC; great-great-granddaughter August; niece Kristine; nephews Hugh and Tim.
