The Honorable Richard Charles Davidson, born May 16, 1941, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by his loving wife and children. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard’s life was marked by his dedication and love to his family and friends and through his volunteer work in his church. Richard was very proud of his military service in the United States Air Force. With distinction, he pursued his passion for law, earning his law degree from the University of Utah and Juris Doctorate and Masters of Law from the University of Virginia. He served many years as a district court judge in Vernal, Utah, before being appointed Chief Judge to the Utah Court of Appeals.
Upon his return to Colorado, Richard was an arbiter/mediator at the Judicial Arbiter Group (JAG) for many years. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity and was a lifelong learner. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. He also cultivated many hobbies and interests that enriched his life and brought him closer to those he loved.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Jan; four children, Jennifer, Emily, Amanda, and Tom; two stepchildren, Joel and Joshua; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory and carry forward the values he instilled in them. May Richard’s legacy of love, wisdom, and service comfort all who knew him.
In place of flowers, donations can be made to Alcoholics Anonymous at the Southeast Christian Church location, 9650 Jordan Road, Parker, CO 80134, in his name. His life will be celebrated in late Spring or early Summer, 2025.
