Rex Everett Christner, Jr

Rex Christner (Chris), passed away September 3, 2026, at his home, after a long battle with cancer. He was 72 years old.

Rex was born March 27, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Rex and Molly (Smetak) Christner. His youth was spent in New Castle, Pennsylvania and attended New Castle High School. Upon graduating from high school, Rex attended Valley Forge Military Academy.

After working in loan and finances, throughout the Pennsylvania area, Rex moved to Colorado, where his acute business acumen led him to join partnership with his parents, Rex and Molly Christner, in real estate; he also worked for the Colorado State Housing Authority.

Rex loved fishing, being in the Rocky Mountains, a cold beer and a “smooth shot of bourbon.” His devilish smile and sense of humor could lighten any mood. He adopted the Denver Broncos, and the Avalanche, as his home teams and waited each year for the seasons to begin.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Molly (Smetak) Christner; his sister, Diana Lynn (Christner) Liszka and brother-in-law Eugene Liszka. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Lee (Monsour) Bell and brother-in-law, Eric Bell; his nephew, David Kelly (Hillary) Monsour II; his niece, Rachael Katherine Bell (Andrew) Landstedt; his nephew, Eric Eugene (Melissa) Liszka, and his great-nephews, Deric and Aiden Liszka. He enjoyed many years with his dear friend, JoAnn Onweller, and all the precious times spent together.
