Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Carl Williams

December 9, 1941 — June 28, 2022

Carl Edward Williams was born on December 9, 1941 in Waco, TX to Loyce McDaniel and Albert Williams. Carl had 6 brothers and 1 sister. Carl received Christ as a young boy and was Baptized at Second Baptist Church in Waco, TX and was a member of King Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado where he participated in the Men’s Choir.  Carl attended A. J. Moore High School Class of 1959 and remained active with his class alumni.  Carl continued his education at Prairie View A & M University where he received his Bachelor’s degree. Carl received a Masters Degree of Arts in 1978 while serving in the Armed Forces.

In 1963 Carl joined the United States Air Force. His career would take him to 5 states, 4 Countries and span over 20 years.  Carl’s military accolades included assignments at NORAD and The Pentagon, receiving the National Defense Service medal and serving as the Joint Commander and Joint Chief of Staff at Lowery Air Force Base & Buckley Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Carl celebrated awards from Landscaping to Leadership.   While serving in the Military; he met his future wife & lifelong friend Bobbie Mae Jenkins. From this union they shared 1 son, Kevin Williams and 2 daughters Raquel and Michelle Williams.  After Carl retired from the military in 1984 as a Lieutenant Colonel although his was recognized as a Colonel selectee. He embarked on his first civilian assignment immediately following retirement.  Carl joined Lockheed Martin as Aerospace engineer.  He would later retire from Lockheed Martin in the late 90’s.

Carl was a devoted Son, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather & Friend to many.  He was a member of the Xi Pi (1978) chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.  Carl was outgoing, loved meeting people and loved to laugh.  He had a love for all types of music with his favorite artist being Earth Wind & Fire.  Carl loved football and was a devout Denver Bronco fan.   His hobbies included singing, fishing, traveling, gardening, cooking and gambling.  He also enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the Barber shop.

In Carl’s later years he enjoyed retirement, mentoring his grandkids, spending time with family and friends and enjoying the fruits of his labor.

On June 28th, 2022, God rewarded Carl with his “Wings”.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Loyce Williams, 1 sister; Lila Faye, five brothers; Lawrence (Sr.), Rudolph (Sr.), Nathaniel, Gerald (Sr.), and Phillip Williams. Carl leaves to cherish his memories, his Brother; Don Albert Williams, (Cheryl) 1 sister in law; Ann Williams.  Ex-wife and devoted friend,  Bobbie Mae Williams; his son Ret. Lt. Col Kevin Williams, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Williams; daughters, Raquel and Michelle Williams; four grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon (Vanessa), Erin and Mikelle Williams, one great grandson, Kylo Williams; nieces, Pamela Farrow , Angela Williams and Sumiko Hamilton–Hervey, nephews, Kelvin, Lawrence (Jr.), John, Don Mario (Sr.), Rudolph (Jr.), Gerald (Jr.); and Darryl Williams, special family friend Cecilia Bost, and a host of cousins and friends.
