Regis A. "Pete" Engelken, 95, of Centennial, CO passed away peacefully and joined the family circle in Heaven on March 21, 2026. Regis Anthony was born May 14,1930 in Seneca, KS. He was the 8th out of 9 children. His parents were Joseph A. and Anna C. (Rettele) Engelken. He was the last of his siblings to pass away. He grew up on the family farm in Seneca, KS and graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy and served as a Radioman during the Korean war from 1950-1954 aboard the USS Sphinx and the
USS El Dorado. After his honorable discharge he attended the University of Kansas on the GI Bill and eventually graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Regis married Mary Mead in November,1959 in Kansas City, KS. They moved to St. Cloud, MN where Regis worked for Skelly Oil Company. They started a family in St. Cloud where son Roger, and daughter Michaela "Mickey" were born. In 1963 Regis's job in oil and gas accounting took them to Tulsa, OK where son Gregory, was born. In 1969 they moved to Denver, CO. Regis worked in oil and gas accounting for most of his career but ended up working for the US Department of Defense as a government contract auditor. In 1991 Regis and Mary lived in Guam for 2 years on a government assignment with the Department of Defense. After Guam they moved back to their old house in Centennial, CO. Regis retired from the US Government Civil Service in 1998. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, playing pool, and working around the house.
Regis is survived by his loving wife Mary, married over 66 years; his children: Roger (Nancy) of Westfield, IN, daughter Michaela of Aurora, CO, son Gregory (Kathi) of Centennial, CO, sister-in-law Connie of Seneca, KS, sister-in-law Doris of Wyandotte, OK, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
