Rebecca B Henderson

August 31, 1933 — December 15, 2025

Rebecca B Henderson was born on August 31, 1933, and passed away peacefully on December 15 at the age of 92.

Rebecca, known lovingly as “Beckie,” was the second of four children, born to the Benson family alongside her siblings Wayne, Charles, and Yvonne. She began her college education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, before transferring to the University of Denver. While at DU, Beckie pledged Alpha Chi Omega sorority, where she formed lifelong friendships. Those bonds endured well beyond college years, including regular bridge games with her sorority sisters that continued for decades.

It was through one of those friendships that Beckie met the love of her life. Gail, her sorority sister and roommate, introduced her to James Kenneth Henderson on a blind date to attend a University of Denver hockey game. J.K. was immediately struck by Beckie’s beauty, but even more so by her intelligence and genuine spirit.

Beckie graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in business in June of 1954. Just weeks later, on June 26, 1954, she and James were married, beginning a partnership that would span an extraordinary 71 years. As J.K. served in the United States Air Force, their first home together was in Merced, California. They returned to Denver in 1955, where Beckie began her professional career.

Her first post-college position was with Farmers Bureau Life Insurance, where she helped establish one of the company’s earliest life insurance policies. She later worked for Hamilton Investment Company as an investment advisor. Beckie eventually turned her focus to raising her family, welcoming five children in just six years: Jeffrey, twins Denise and Deanna, Joel, and Dinah. While raising their children, Beckie also served as the accountant for J.K.’s business, 6th Avenue Radio and TV, skillfully balancing family life with professional responsibilities.

In 1994, Beckie and J.K. retired and moved to Marble Falls, Texas, where they enjoyed life on Lake LBJ. Retirement brought new adventures as they worked with Fantasy Caravans, organizing RV tours throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska, and Mexico—experiences they treasured deeply.

In 2016, they returned to Colorado to be closer to family, including J.K.’s mother, their children, grandchildren, and cherished friends from their college years.

Rebecca is survived by her beloved husband, James Kenneth Henderson, their five children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her intelligence, grace, devotion to family, her incredible faith in God and the enduring love she shared with all who knew her.
