Ralph Paul Tanner, age 78, died in his home in Northglenn, Colorado, on April 25, 2025. He was a graduate of Regis Jesuit High School and Regis College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He met his wife, Judith Holford, in Denver, Colorado and they were married on July 13, 1968. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier Oriskany between September 1967 and August 1971. After he came home from Vietnam, he worked in the federal government and retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 2005.
Ralph Tanner enjoyed coaching youth football in Northglenn and was a devout Catholic. He attended Saturday afternoon masses, without fail, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church before his illnesses did not allow him to attend.
He is survived by his wife Judy; his sons Greg and his wife Julie, Kevin and his wife Rebecca, and Christopher; his grandchildren Dakota, Sienna, and Colton; Great grandson August; Sister Geri Duffy; Nieces Dawn, and Stacey; Great nephew and niece Hunter and Dylan and cousins Patty Dupey and Mike Clouse. He was preceded in death by his Father Robert Tanner, Mother Emma Tanner and his brother-in-law, Walter Duffy.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 22nd between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229. The service will follow the next morning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 23rd at the same location followed by the burial at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the ASPCA in lieu of flowers.
