Ralph Terry Giberson

March 16, 1947 – September 12, 2025 (age 78)

Ralph Terry Giberson passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in his home in Parker, Colorado, on September 12, 2025, after a courageous fight against metastatic esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Ralph was born on March 16, 1947, in Oakland, California, to Merrill and Dorothy Giberson. He spent his childhood in Berkeley with his family, including his three siblings: Clifford, Shirley, and Lynn. He graduated from California State University East Bay with a B.A. in History and later earned a Master’s degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University.

He was an avid traveler in his twenties, studying abroad for a year in Copenhagen and later spending several years in Alaska and Washington State before returning to California and eventually settling in Colorado. His career spanned newswriting for ABC television, construction, and—most meaningfully—health care, where he provided counseling, nursing care, and hospice support. He was deeply devoted to helping patients and their families navigate the end of life, a calling that touched his heart profoundly. To many, he was considered an “angel.”

Ralph was a kind, caring, and patient spiritual person. He was a devoted husband and a nurturing, steady presence in the lives of his children and, eventually, his grandchildren. He enjoyed private pilot training, skiing, boating, and World War II history. He was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. He loved dogs—particularly Red Dog, Crispin, and Roddy—whom he considered great friends. He cherished all of nature—the quiet beauty of the earth—but it was the ocean and the mountains that brought him his greatest peace and joy. In recent years, he was an active member of the Centennial Lions Club and found deep fulfillment in the KidSight program, which screened children's vision and offered follow-up support when ongoing issues were identified.

He is survived by his loving wife, Amy; his three daughters, Wendy (Jeremy David), Lauren (Michael Rhoads), and Sally (John Oberle); twelve grandchildren; his nephew, Gregory Patton (Anna Ciacchella); and his niece, Darla Dunham.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Merrill Giberson; his sisters, Shirley Carroll and Lynn Giberson; and his brother, Clifford Giberson.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched—a gentle, loving spirit, full of kindness and quiet wisdom, with a curious mind and captivating stories that made him truly unforgettable.
