Ralph Charles Fritz “Fritz”, 81 from Highlands Ranch Colorado, went home to be with the Lord on November 9th, 2021. He was born on March 7, 1940 in Denver Colorado to Louie and Martha Yearwood Fritz. When Fritz was 4 years old his family moved to Ft Morgan Colorado where he grew up and graduated from Ft. Morgan High School in 1958. Fritz was active in swimming, multiple clubs, lettered as team manager for football and track, and was on the newspaper staff. He was voted Wittiest of his class his senior year.
Fritz met Sandra Holihan in Denver in 1963 and the two were engaged on November 22, 1963, the day Kennedy was shot. As Fritz said, there was nothing else to do that day. He graduated from the Community College of Denver in 1970 with a Business Management Associate Degree. They lived in Denver and Aurora Colorado where they raised their children, Suzanne and Scott. Fritz worked in outside and inside sales for GE, Hotpoint, and Whirlpool, then the Sony service center before retiring in 2001.
He was a founding member of All Saints Lutheran Church in the late 70’s and was very active within the church, including Church President, and numerous other church council positions.
It was there he founded the Boy Scout Troop 839. Scouting was Fritz’ true passion and he was an avid collector of all thing Boy Scouts. He was heavily involved in training adults and working with boys for 50 years. He received numerous scouting awards including Silver Beaver, Lamb award, Order of Arrow, and District Award of Merit Medal.
Perhaps his biggest achievement was in 2008 when he was awarded his long overdue Eagle Scout rank in front of 200 people. Fritz was most proud of this accomplishment.
He spent his later years at Heritage Eagle Bend where he and Sandy remained very active and formed lifelong friends. They had a vow renewal ceremony in 2014 for their 50th anniversary, in front of family and friends. He was fortunate enough to spend his final months at Windcrest Retirement Village where he met some wonderful new friends as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louie Fritz and Martha Fritz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandy Fritz. His daughter and son-in-law Suzanne Fritz Gonzalez and Mario Gonzalez, of Castle Rock CO. His son and daughter-in-law Scott and Anita Colwell Fritz, and his grandchildren, Zach, Megan, and Ashley Fritz, of Conifer CO, who he adored and loved with all his heart. He is also survived by his brother Jerry Fritz and family of Jenks, OK.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, the 3rd of December at 11am at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Rd, Centennial CO 80122.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Diabetes Association, All Saints Lutheran Church, or the Boy Scouts of America would make Fritz smile.
