Ralph Paul Freehling, age 77, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 5, 2025, after 28 years of battling with heart and vascular disease. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Ralph was born on August 20, 1948, at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colorado, to Evelyn (Makowski) and Peter Freehling. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1966, completing three tours in Vietnam. Ralph received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Metropolitan State University in 1975. He retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of dedicated service.
Ralph enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. He was a lifelong music enthusiast with a special love for jazz and was known for his sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor. Ralph was very devoted to his family heritage and loved the Freehling and Makowski families with all of his heart. His faith in the Catholic church never wavered.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Peter Freehling. Ralph is survived by his nephew, Richard Owen (Tiffany) Freehling, along with numerous extended family members and close friends who will miss him dearly.
Ralph’s favorite saying was, “Cultivate Kindness.” In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made by lending a helping hand to someone in need, in his honor.
A Celebration of Life with reception service will be held on September 11, 2025, 12:00PM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227, followed by interment with full military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
