Rafael Emilio Romero

Rafael E. (Ralph) Romero, husband of the late Catherine Norwood Romero, passed away on Sunday, November 30, at the age of 95. 

Born in Cúcuta, Colombia, he moved to Denver for college. Starting at the Colorado School of Mines, he later completed his degree in Civil Engineering at the University of New Mexico. After many years at Texaco, he worked at J-8 and then became a partner at Galloway Romero Associates. After retiring, he continued to exercise his profession as a consulting engineer. 

A long-time volunteer with the Denver Public Schools bilingual elementary school reading program, he was also a member of the Heather Gardens Optimist Club and Mens' Golf Club, and for several years handled organizing the weekly Mass at Heather Gardens. 

He is survived by his son, David, several siblings and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 23, at 10 a.m. A long-time supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a donation to them in his memory would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
