Pleasant Kimball, known most of his life as "Kim", was born In Capitol Hill Hospital in Okla. City, OK on May 17, 1927. He passed away in Arvada, CO on May 20,2024 at the age of 97.
He was raised in Davenport, OK and graduated from high school there. At 17, he joined the Navy. After boot camp he was sent to Radar Operator school in San Diego. On graduation, he was assigned to the USS Hornet (CV12) and spent 18 months on her during the latter days of WW2. He was transferred to the USS President Hayes (APA20) and participated in Operation Bikini, the first major atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll in 1946. After his discharge, he enrolled in Okla. A&M Collage (Okla. State U.) and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was recalled to active service and spend 24 months serving on the USS Laning (APD20) and the USS Cronin (DEC704) in the Korean War. He spent a total of 27 years in the Navy, including active duty and reserve time, retiring as a Commander. He spent 21 years in various management positions with Allis Chalmers Corp and supervised the sale of the world's largest pump to the State of California. He was employed also by Dresser Industries, Bateman Engineering Co, Stansteel Corp. and Sundstrand Corp as Vice President before forming his own company, Valve & Filter Corp., a manufacturing Of fluid control valves and automatic pressure water filters. He grew the company into a major supplier to industrial and municipal companies world wide. At the age of 80 he retired from active management and the company was sold in 2016 to Evoqua Corp. He was married 3 times, 1st to Judy Ann McGinley who died of cancer, 2nd to Liliana Bulanti who died of cancer, and 3rd to Annabelle Hartenstine. He was a professional engineer registered in the states of Oklahoma and Texas. He is the holder of three patents. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, Amateur Radio and The Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle, a Son, Stephen P. Kimball of San Ramon CA. Memorial Service will be held on May 29, 2024 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 7577 W 80th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003 beginning at 2:00pm. All are invited to a reception following the service.
