Phillip Warren Winters (Phil), 75, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2017. He is survived by his wife Roberta Winters, his children; Scott Winters and Mitch Winters (Christie Winters), brother Gail Winters (Sherry Winters), sister Karen Edwards. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Cole, Logan, Bailey, Megan and Emily Winters and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Ruby Winters, brother Vernon Winters and daughter-in-law Dena Winters. Phil was born on August 25, 1941 in Springfield, Colorado. He married Roberta Kirby on June 9, 1962 in Walsh, Colorado. They moved to Lamar, Colorado in 1965 where they raised their two boys, Scott and Mitch. While in Lamar, Phil owned a shoe store and later worked at Sutrak. He was an active member of Jaycees. In 1989, Phil and Roberta relocated to Lakewood, Colorado where he worked at Stewart Stevenson as a purchasing manager. He later joined Myslik Incorporated and continued there until his death, thoroughly enjoying his job and working closely with the Myslik family. Phil's lifelong passion was boating, from speed boats in Lamar to house boats on Lake of the Ozarks to his pontoon boat on Chatfield Reservoir in Littleton. For the past several years, he enjoyed spending time at Chatfield on his boat with family and friends. He especially enjoyed being on ""D"" Dock. It was a special place for Phil where he made many friends, and these friends became family to him. Phil took pleasure in woodworking. He built many pieces of furniture that will be forever treasured by his family. He remodeled their current residence in Lakewood and helped both of his sons in remodeling their homes. Phil and Roberta enjoyed many road trips to Branson, Missouri, South Carolina and Virginia. They also traveled to the coast of Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and the Northwest. His favorite trip was to Alaska where they toured Alaska's Inside Passage and went on an Alaskan cruise. Family was very important to Phil. He would attend his grandchildren's events, family birthdays and special occasions. Phil always treasured his deep roots in his hometown, Springfield, Colorado. After the older members of his family left us, Phil felt it was important to keep the extended family connected by hosting the annual Brown/Truax family reunion. He looked forward to this occasion each year. Phil was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a very strong influence on his sons. They both live their lives in the way they saw their Dad live his. This is a wonderful legacy for anyone to leave. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Even though Phil wasn't verbal about his faith, he lived each day to the best of his ability and followed in the Lord's path. In the words of St. Paul, Phil could say, ""I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."" A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO.
