Philip Joseph Auriemma Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.
Born on June 23, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Phil grew up in “the city” and graduated from Corpus Christi High School after a brief period of attendance at Chicago’s S.V.D. Seminary. He then proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, an experience that remained a meaningful part of his life.
In 1965, he married Beverly Miller, and together they raised two children, Philip and Monique. Although their marriage ended in divorce after 21 years, they remained lifelong friends until his passing. He later entered into two additional marriages, both of which were brief.
Life often led Phil down many different paths, but one constant throughout the years was his Catholic faith and enduring commitment to his beliefs.
Phil dedicated much of his professional life to the Chicago Transit Authority, where he worked as a conductor and later as a trainer until his retirement. Outside of work, he enjoyed war films, military history documentaries, and visiting maritime museums, pursuits that reflected his lifelong interest in history and service.
He will be remembered for the warm smile that could light up a room, his resilience through life’s challenges, and his determination to keep moving forward no matter the circumstances.
Phil is survived by his children, Philip and Monique (Fred); his four grandchildren, Emma, Brianna, Ryan, and Daniel (Sharlice); his great-granddaughter, Verona; and many friends whose lives he touched over the years.
A special thank you is extended to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Woodland Estates, in both Assisted Living and Memory Care, for the care, kindness, and companionship they provided Philip over the past eight years. Their support brought him comfort, joy, and dignity throughout his later years. The family also extends its sincere gratitude to Bristol Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during Phil’s final months.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him, and may he rest in peace.
I lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Philip's honor to:
